Community Resources

When feeling overwhelmed and tired from the responsibility of looking after someone, it is important to connect with healthcare professionals as well as with other caregivers who are coping with similar challenges. We are fortunate in the Greater Victoria area to have the Family Caregivers’ Network to provide education, support and referrals. Services provided by FCNS include:

  • Telephone or in-person caregiver support
  • Resource Guide for Family Caregivers
  • Information and referral to community resources
  • Family caregiver support groups and educational workshops
  • Resource library of books, videos and handouts
  • Bi-monthly newsletter, The Network News is available in hard copy or digital format
  • Caregiver resource materials including a Caregiver Wellness Booklet
  • Help navigating the healthcare system.

The Resource Guide for Family Caregivers   is an invaluable book for family caregivers and is available FREE online or from The Family Caregivers’ Network office for $20. It covers many topics for caregivers including:

  • Understanding Normal Aging
  • Family Caregivers and the Workplace
  • Community-based Support Services and Assessments
  • Moving from Home to Facility
  • Financial Considerations
